Ease of Use: 8/10
So many people have recommended Mama Koala cloth diapers to me that I figured it was high time I gave them a try. I can’t believe I hadn’t tried these sooner- they’re a good fit and offer some of the cutest patterns I’ve ever seen.
The Mama Koala pocket diapers are a one-size diaper meant to last from birth through potty training (or roughly 8-35lbs). You won’t need to buy multiple sizes with Mama Koala, and they should last for years.
For the price, Mama Koala pocket diapers are excellent quality. At this price point, I was expecting quality much more similar to Alva, etc., but these are better. The stitching is all even and professional, the PUL is soft but durable, and the snaps are heavy-duty plastic. I’m confident these will hold up to years of repeated wear and washing.
Mama Koala diapers fit Pumpkin well, but they aren’t my ideal fit. These seem to be a little wide on Pumpkin (not that he cares…) and the waist is a little snugger than other one-size diapers we have tried (probably due to the snap arrangement). That being said, these are easy to get a good fit with, and we’ve never leaked.
The other thing I wanted to point out in regards to fit is that you can easily adjust the included inserts to whatever rise setting your baby is currently using. The inserts have snaps allowing you to easily fold (and keep wrapped) the insert to whatever size you need. Although we have replaced the included microfiber inserts with some old prefolds, I could see myself using the included inserts because of that feature.
Ease of Use:
Mama Koala diapers are so easy to stuff. I can’t get over how large the pocket opening is and how easy it is to slide an insert into these. I love the enormous opportunity on these and the fact that even my husband (with his giant hands) could stuff these diapers. As far as putting on baby, these are easy enough. The snap placement makes sense, and there is enough stretch that I never feel like I’m squishing Pumpkin.
At $39.99 for a pack of 6, Mama Koala diapers initially seem like an investment until you calculate that each diaper only costs $6.67. At that price, you would only need to use each diaper around 27 times before they become cheaper than disposables. I do wish Mama Koala offered single diapers for sale. There are a couple of prints I want but can’t justify buying the entire pack when I only want a certain one.
Mama Koala offers some of the cutest prints I have ever seen. Each pack of diapers is the same price, so you don’t need to worry about the impression you want costing more. The only thing Mama Koala doesn’t offer are solid colors, so if you wish to some solids to match the cute prints you will have to look elsewhere.
Having heard so many beautiful things about Mama Koala diapers, I had high expectations when I tried these. They ended up exceeding my expectations, and I can truly understand why so many people rave about these. Bottom Line: Yes, I would repurchase these. I want food prints!
