I was so excited about the launch of West Coast Dipes- their logo made me want to buy all the diapers (hello, bears!). I wasn’t super crazy about the prints when they first released- I was hoping for more nature-inspired but when I got this print, Idyllwild, in the mail I fell in love. It is so gorgeous in person, and it comes with a hemp insert- a rarity for an affordable pocket. I am so pleased with this diaper and can’t wait to see what else West Coast Dipes comes out with.

Longevity:

This West Coast Dipes pocket is a one-size diaper meant to fit from birth (6 pounds) to potty learning (35 pounds). This is sized similarly to other pockets on the market, and while it might not fit super well during the newborn stage, it will surely last through potty learning! Pumpkin is right in the middle of the weight range for this diaper and has plenty of room to grow.

Quality:

West Coast Dipes pocket diapers, for being so affordable, are remarkably good quality. The pocket diaper comes with a hemp/cotton insert (instead of microfiber like most cheaper pockets) that is so soft and fluffy. The stitching on both the diaper and the insert is beautiful and even without any loose strings or snags. The lining of the pocket is also lovely and soft- not as fluffy as some but definitely not scratchy or seemingly uncomfortable. The PUL on this diaper does seem a little stiffer and crinkly-er than some of our other pockets, but it’s already softened up after five washes, and I’m assuming after we use it for a few months, it will be nice and pliable.

Fit:

West Coast Dipes pocket diapers fit similarly to other comparable styles; they might not fit so perfectly on a newborn but will fit great through the toddler years. I love the fact that even though Pumpkin is right in the middle range of these (22 pounds), he still has plenty of room to grow and I’m not nervous about running out of rising snaps or waist snaps. This diaper will fit best on a wide range of kiddos but might be trickier to get a good fit on super narrow/lean body shapes. These will easily fit chunkier babies without being too tight.

Ease of Use:

These are a pocket diaper that requires stuffing. Luckily the pocket opening is beautiful and roomy, and the natural fiber insert slides right in. My husband doesn’t have any difficulty stuffing these so you should be fine even if you have larger sized hands. The snaps on these are easy to snap and still feel robust.

Price:

At $10.95 each of these West Coast Dipes pocket diapers only need to be used about 44 times before becoming cheaper than disposables. And with a hemp/cotton insert included, these are a fantastic deal! Usually less expensive pockets come with a microfiber insert which then requires you to buy another supplement if you have a heavy wetter (which can get pricey). These diapers don’t need any more inserts to be purchased and should work great, even for a heavy wetter, right out of the package.

Cuteness:

These prints are way cuter in person! The colors are vibrant, and the print is clear. I wish that West Coast Dipes offered more gender-neutral prints and solid colors, but this was their first run, so hopefully, with subsequent terms, we will have more options. Either way, the majority of the prints offered by West Coast Dipes right now are suitable for both genders. And although you won’t be able to build a stash without repeating prints,  you can still have a variety of prints in different styles of a diaper.

Overall:

The pocket by West Coast Dipes is a trustworthy, but affordable, cloth diapering option. The fact that it comes with a hemp/cotton insert makes this my favorite accessible pocket on the market. I can’t wait to see what new styles and prints West Coast Dipes comes out with. Bottom Line: Yes, I would repurchase this. This is an excellent option for those families wanting to get into cloth diapering without breaking the bank (and while supporting a small business!).
